In 1991 Mark Kunkle and Jeff Power (retired 2016) began an organization committed to providing the highest level of proactive and responsive client services.  By placing a strong emphasis on hiring only the most qualified individuals who share the same commitment of being a resource and advocate for each and every client, the representatives at Power Kunkle become a valuable extension of your team.

In order to help you conquer each new challenge on the road to success, the team of diversely skilled professionals at Power Kunkle continually push themselves to grow and learn as the insurance market evolves.  To that point, we believe it is important to that all our client managers are required to obtain and maintain their Pennsylvania Accident and Health License.

Mark Kunkle, President

mark-kunkle Mark has been in the Insurance and Employee Benefits industry since 1988. He received a B.S. degree from Penn State University in 1985. Previously he served as Vice President of Marketing for a medical consulting firm which specialized in helping physicians and hospitals receive proper reimbursement from insurance companies. This experience, coupled with over 23 years in the insurance industry, has provided him with an extensive understanding of various types of coverages, plan designs and renewal procedures in the Employee Benefits arena.

Andrew Schreffler, Executive Vice President, Benefits

andy-schrefflerAndrew is an Executive Vice President of Benefits, responsible for new business development, management of his client accounts and the overall strategic planning of the agency. Andrew negotiates benefit renewals, conducts open enrollment meetings and ensures his accounts’ compliance. He maintains relationships with the insurance carriers and keeps his clients well-educated on the most current products, technology and trends in the benefits field.

Andrew is a graduate of The Hill School (Pottstown, PA) and Gettysburg College. He is an active member of the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce (Government Affairs Committee) and the Sinking Spring YMCA.

Jessica Dean, Executive Vice President, Benefits

jessica-deanJessica joined Power Kunkle in May 2010. As Executive Vice President of Benefits, she is responsible for new business development, management of her client accounts and overall strategic planning of the agency. Jessica has extensive knowledge of benefits including market trends, plan designs, pricing, funding alternatives, contribution analysis and employee communication.

Jessica began her insurance career in 1997 as an Account Executive for Capital Blue Cross. The experience gained during that tenure enables her to develop creative solutions while efficiently negotiating with the carriers to obtain cost-effective plans to meet each client’s individual company philosophy.

Jessica received her BSBA from Shippensburg University. She is a member of NAHU (National Associations of Health Underwriters) and currently serves as the Second Vice President of the Pennsylvania Association of Health Underwriters (PAHU). Through these organizations Jessica meets with legislators on the state and federal level to advocate on behalf of businesses in the area of employee benefits. Jessica is an active member in the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce serving on the advisory board and the Berks Chapter of Society of Human Resource Manager (SHRM) and has participated on the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce’s Employee Benefit Committee. Jessica is also a PIAA Basketball official and resides in Schuylkill County with her husband and three children.

William Paulik, Senior Vice President, Operations

Bill PaulickWilliam joined Power Kunkle as Senior Vice President of Operations in April 2017. William is a Healthcare and Manufacturing executive with over 20 years of experience in strategic leadership positions, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of Penn State Health Medical Group. He has a proven record of accomplishment in operations management, financial processes and leadership of high performance work teams. He is experienced in leading organizations in change management to build outcome focused success.

William is a graduate of Salisbury High School, Allentown, PA, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business from Lafayette College, Easton, PA and his Master degree in Business Administration (MBA) from LaSalle University, Philadelphia, PA. William started his career in the Banking industry before moving on to work in the Manufacturing and Healthcare industries. He is an active member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).

Sandi Keller, Senior Vice President, Strategic Accounts

Sandi-KellerSandi joined Power Kunkle as Senior Vice President, Strategic Accounts in 2015. As an Employee Benefits Executive with over 25 years of experience, Sandi has a proven track record of developing and implementing health and welfare programs for complex, multi-disciplined organizations. Her specialties include comprehensive claim analytics, alternative funding options, and cost containment strategies. She has significant experience working with large corporate accounts, educational institutions and health care systems.

Following her Bachelor of Science studies at Penn State, Sandi began her career as a Personal Lines Account Manager in 1989. She spent 16 years in Sales and Marketing at Capital Blue Cross and then six years as Senior Vice President with a nationally recognized consulting firm. Sandi earned her GBDS certification in 2012, is licensed to sell Health, Life, and Accident insurance products and maintains her Property and Casualty license in PA.

Deana Hollister, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Deana-HollisterDeana joined Power Kunkle as Managing Director of our HR Solutions Division in March, 2015. Deana is a seasoned HR executive, with over 22 years of experience.  She previously worked in HR consulting firms, law firms and the banking industry.

Deana comes to us with broad knowledge of human resources across various sectors of business. Her extensive experience includes employee relations, legal compliance, recruitment, payroll and HRIS systems, supervisory training, compensation programs, performance management programs and handbook review among many other topics.

Deana holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.  She’s an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), as well as both the Lancaster and Berks local HR chapters.  Deana previously held the roles of Co-Chair of the Professional Development Committee for Lancaster SHRM and Educational Chair for the Central PA Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.

Lori Kunkle, Senior Vice President, Clinical Wellness

lori-kunkle Lori graduated from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 2004. After graduating she accepted a position in the Reading Hospital Emergency Department. In 2009, she joined the Emergency Department’s management team.

Lori received her Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) from Alvernia University in 2012 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Nursing Administration (MSN) through Cedar Crest College, Allentown. She is a member of WELCOA – Wellness Coalition of America which provides training and resources dedicated to corporate wellness.

Lori joined Power Kunkle as the Clinical Wellness Director in January 2014. In addition to assisting with the development and design of a corporate wellness plan, Lori can provide communication strategies and structure wellness incentives that will be influential in changing employee behavior. She is able to use her wealth of knowledge and experience from the clinical side of nursing to break down claims information and data provided by the health insurance carriers to determine which wellness initiatives will have the greatest impact in reducing your healthcare costs.

During her years in the Emergency Department Lori identified that the average age of individuals seeking treatment for symptoms of heart attack and stroke was getting younger. People are experiencing potentially life threatening health conditions that are preventable or modifiable with improved lifestyle choices. Her primary goal is to offer education through corporate wellness initiatives to reduce individual risk factors and make positive behavioral changes before they lead to a catastrophic event.

Pat Rogan, Employee Benefits Consultant

Pat RoganPat Joined Power Kunkle in early 2016, as an Employee Benefits Consultant. Pat is responsible for new business development and overall management of his client accounts. Coming from a background in public service, Pat takes great pride in always being a resource and advocate for his clients.

Pat is a graduate of West Scranton High School and the University of Scranton. He is an active member of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and he currently serves on Scranton City Council.

Scott Troy, Account Manager

Scott Troy joined Power Kunkle in the summer of 2017 as an Account Manager. He is responsible for managing clients in the small group market and new business development. In addition to providing excellent service to his clients, Scott plays a key supporting role to the Benefits Consultants and Client Relationship Managers. Scott utilizes his 12 years of insurance experience to negotiate benefits renewals and conduct open enrollment meetings.
Scott is a graduate of Wilson High School (West Lawn, PA) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is an active member of the Berks County Swimming Association board of directors and is heavily involved in the local swimming and water polo community. He was formerly on the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce Speed Networking Committee and Greater Reading Young Professionals Marketing Committee. He spends many weekends on the pool deck and with his wife and 3 boys.

Colin Kunkle, Account Executive

Colin-KunkleColin is an Account Executive with Power Kunkle, responsible for managing clients in the small group market. His strong analytic skills progressive thinking and caring approach allow him to help not only his clients, but their employees to achieve their benefit goals in a variable and complex marketplace. In addition to negotiating benefits renewals and conducting open enrollment meetings, Colin plays a key supporting role to the Benefit Consultants and Client Relation Managers.

Colin is a graduate of Wilson High School (West Lawn, PA) and Ursinus College, where he earned a B.A in Business and Economics with a minor concentration in Exercise Sports Science.

Nicole L. Mengel, Client Relations Manager

nicole-mengle Nicole has 14 years of employee benefit experience. She is responsible for overall strategic planning and management of her client accounts. She maintains relationships with the leaders in the vendor marketplace and ensures that her clients are well-educated on the most current products, technology and trends in the benefits field. Nicole has extensive knowledge of the benefit and financial markets that include market trends, plan designs, pricing, funding alternatives, contribution analyses and employee communications.

Diane M. Cassel, Client Relations Manager

diane-cassel Diane joined Power Kunkle Group in June, 2010 as a Client Relations Manager in support of our client’s insurance needs. Diane is one of Power Kunkle’s team members responsible for providing customer service and problem solving for our clients medical and ancillary insurance requirements. Diane is licensed in Pennsylvania for Producer Life, Accident and Health Insurance.

Prior to her position at Power Kunkle, she worked as a Client Account Manager in the self-funded insurance industry for a number of years. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Immaculata University with a degree in Business Administration and has also completed graduate work at St. Joseph’s University, with studies focused on international business.

Brynne Alban, Client Relations Manager

brynne-alban Brynne Alban joined the Power Kunkle team in 2012 as a Client Relations Manager. She comes to PK with a decade of client care experience while working with various educational and mental health organizations in Berks County. Brynne looks forward to serving our current and future clients with the high quality benefits consulting they have come to expect.

Brynne is a licensed producer in Life, Health and Accident Insurance. She is a graduate of Kutztown University, where she earned her Masters Degree in Education. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Shippensburg University.

Brynne resides in Sinking Spring, PA with her husband Chad and their 2 sons, Benjamin and Carson.

Carrie Frensky, Client Relations Manager

carrie-frenskyCarrie Frensky joined the Power Kunkle team in 2014 and in April 2015 moved into the role of Client Relations Manager.  Her strong attention to detail and proven organizational skills will serve you well.  Carrie is looking forward to building a solid working relationship with both you and your employees and we are certain that you will find her a pleasure to work with.

Elizabeth Barrineau, Client Relations Manager

Elizabeth-Barrineau Elizabeth joined the Power Kunkle team in 2015, as a Client Relations Manager. Elizabeth’s extensive product knowledge allows her to assist clients with their trouble-shooting and problem solving needs as well as educate employees when conducting open enrollment meetings. Working with various vendors, Elizabeth negotiates client renewals and analyzes options to find what best meets the employer’s needs. Elizabeth supports her clients with exceptional customer service.

Prior to joining Power Kunkle, Elizabeth spent seven years with The Seltzer Group as Senior Account Service Manager. Elizabeth is a licensed producer in Pennsylvania for Life, Accident and Health Insurance.

Janell Marple, SHRM-CP, HR Generalist

Janelle-MarpleJanell joined Power Kunkle as HR Generalist in June 2016. Janell has over 12 years of HR experience, working in many different industries which include big-box retail, natural food & beverage as well as fire suppression. She received her Bachelor’s Degree at Clearwater Christian College in Physical Education. She will be assisting the HR Managing Director with HR & benefit compliance for our clients.


PK Wellness Matters

Ryan Kunkle, Wellness Consultant

Ryan-KunkleRyan graduated from Dickinson College in 2007 with a degree in International Business and Management. In addition, Ryan received his Master’s degree in Health Promotion and Management through Nebraska Methodist College in 2016. He is a member of WELCOA – Wellness Coalition of America which provides training and resources for organizations looking to promote wellness. Ryan is also a Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist through the Employer Healthcare Congress.

Ryan joined Power Kunkle as a Wellness Consultant in March 2016. Ryan assists the Clinical Wellness Director with the development and coordination of wellness programming, events and health screenings.

Sarah Bookser, Registered Nurse

Sarah Bookser joined the Wellness Division of Power Kunkle in June, 2017. She previously worked as a Registered Nurse in the Reading Hospital Emergency Department for 12 years. Sarah graduated from the Reading Area Community College School of Nursing in 2005. She is certified in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and is also a Certified Instructor for BLS, First Aid, and CPR/AED training.
